Shincheonji: Information on Shincheonji

 Shincheonji was mainly accused of infiltrating different churches. The followers of Shincheonji actively enter other churches to convert the members of other churches for their own group. In South Korea, the followers of Shincheonji have been reportedly sighted in churches such as Myeongdong Cathedral. The followers of Shincheonji pretend to be devout believers of that particular church in where they want to lure thieves and other Koreans into their spiritual meetings.

All the recruits of Shincheonji have been expected to experience compulsory bible study sessions. The bible study sessions for the recruits usually occur two to four times a week. Thus, the bible study sessions are a compulsory process that all recruits must go through before they are able to move on the Shincheonji center. From the bible study sessions, the recruits are taught all the fundamental doctrines of the Shincheonji Church. Within this stage, recruits who are not very familiar with the Bible fail to produce an accurate judgment about the doctrines being taught.

Several local Korean churches in Auckland, New Zealand in April 2017, including the New Zealand Churches Association along with the Immanuel Korean church, warned their worshippers about Shincheonji. They have been warned concerning the followers of Shincheonji attempting to recruit new members through Bible study courses. People who joined these Bible classes were eventually encouraged to reduce family ties. The primary purpose of the followers of Shincheonji was going to infiltrate and take over other churches to recruit members into their group. In the calendar year 2109, many churches in Wellington raised concerns about the methods of Shincheonji in recruiting new members from different churches.

Shincheonji has a low picture when it has to do with the main stream of South Korean society. The low image can be mainly attributed to the media perpetuation by interviews of benign ex-members. Many outspoken ex-members have branded the group as a harmful, secretive cult. Thus, for such reasons, many group members hide their affiliation to avoid discrimination and harassment from the public. Although the group has claimed that it is not a secretive and harmful cult, mainstream Christian denominations esteem Shincheonji as heretical. The group has been among those fastest-growing religious sects in South Korea.
